Privacy policy

Overview

SusuWallet is the trust layer for savings circles, not a payments company or a bank. We never hold, move, or have access to member funds; payments happen directly between the people in a circle, by whatever method they choose. This policy explains what information we collect to run that service, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account information: your name, email address, and phone number, so we can identify you and let your circle reach you.
  • Circle activity: the agreements you e-sign, the rotation schedule, and the payment confirmations you and other members record on the shared ledger.
  • Identity verification: if a circle organiser requires it, information you provide to a third-party identity verification provider to confirm you are who you say you are.
  • Optional bank-linking: if you choose to link a bank account for read-only auto-verification, limited transaction information needed to confirm a specific payment occurred. This connection never gives us or SusuWallet the ability to move money.
  • Device and usage information: technical data such as device type, app version, and crash reports, so we can keep the app working.

How we use information

We use the information above to operate the service: creating and displaying circles, recording the ledger, calculating trust scores and vouches, sending you notifications about your circles, responding to support requests, and detecting and preventing fraud or abuse. We also use it to meet legal and regulatory obligations that apply to us.

What we don't do

We don't sell your personal information. We don't run advertising, and we don't use your circle activity to build an advertising profile. Because we never hold or move funds, we never have access to your bank balance beyond the narrow, read-only confirmation described above, and only if you choose to enable it.

How information is shared

We share information only with the following, and never for advertising purposes:

  • Service providers who host our infrastructure, send email or push notifications, or provide identity verification and optional bank-linking, under agreements that limit what they can do with your information.
  • Other members of your circle, limited to what a circle needs to function: your name, your payment confirmations, and your trust score.
  • Law enforcement or regulators, only when required by law or a valid legal process.

Data retention

We keep circle and ledger records for as long as your account is active, and for a period after that so trust scores and vouches remain accurate and disputes can be resolved. You can ask us to delete your account information at any time, as described below.

Your choices

You can access, correct, or ask us to delete your account information by contacting us. You can disable optional bank-linking at any time from your account settings, and doing so never affects your circle's ledger. If we've asked for your consent to something, you can revoke it at any time by contacting us.

Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest and role-based access controls, to protect your information. No method of storing or transmitting information is completely error-free, and we work to continually improve these protections.

Children's privacy

SusuWallet is intended for adults 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with information, contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify active members before the changes take effect. The date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent version.
